Housing Prices Soar

  • strathcona homeRecent housing prices have reached record levels with many private homes in the area selling for price tags nearing the million dollar mark. Long kept a locals only secret, it would seem that with the Olympics around the corner, Vancouver's Strathcona community has become "the" place to live.

Urbanites are flocking to the community and snapping up the few remaining un renovated houses in an attempt to get in before prices raise any further. Local Vancouver Realtor Rick Stonehouse reports more listings than any previous year, a clear indication that the market in the area is hotter than ever.

what about the poor artist, renters in the community? what are you doing for us. we help make this community what it is and now we are being pushed out just because we are poor. I guess it's the old battle of the strong survive and the people who come from parents who are alchoholics and who where raped as children, which has caused pychological problems that hinder thier chances of having a good job or staying sober must move,( out of your neighborhood) even though we were probably here long before any of you yuppie's and we have a right to stay in a nieghborhood that we love, that is like family to us.
